Setting Up and Keeping Your Appointment

While The Burnt Tiger does accept walk-ins, we strongly suggest that you contact us and schedule a consultation. This allows us to give you our undivided attention so we can design your perfect tattoo. After the design is agreed upon, we will require a non-refundable deposit of no less than $100. This secures your slot in our books and is applied to the price of the tattoo upon completion. We ask that no less than 24 hours notice be given in the event of a cancellation or a reschedule. We ask this because our schedules sometimes fill up to the hour and gaps in that schedule mean someone else is losing out on a potential time slot.

Pre Tattoo

Your Job/ Our Job

On the day of your tattoo appointment, we ask that you rest the night before and eat a good meal before arriving. A tattoo can and will put your body through some extremes and the afore-mentioned will help to control both pain tolerance and length of sitting time. You may also want to consider bringing a snack or two depending on how long your appointment is for. If you can, Ibuprofen may be taken as well but only as specified on the bottle. We ask the you do not come in sunburned on the area to be tattooed as this affects the application and healing of your tattoo. Large groups are always welcome however, children under 18 are not allowed. Only the client and one guest are allowed in the tattoo station at a time. Cell phone usage is allowed with the reminder that moving while getting tattooed is never recommended. Valid ID is required in the state of Illinois and you must be 18 or older to get a tattoo. NO EXCEPTIONS.

On the day of your appointment your artist will have a final design ready minus any last minute changes. Placement, colors and size will be determined as well. We will place the design on the area agreed upon and changes can be made then and don't be afraid to speak up if you're not 100% happy. We will set up our single use supplies in front of you and gladly answer any questions then as well. We will gladly explain the process of being tattooed to those who do not yet know to make it a pleasant experience. We all remember our first tattoo and know that nerves can be elevated. We will do our best to set your mind at ease and you'll see that the anticipation is far worse than the actual tattoo process.

Post Tattoo

Healing Do's and Don'ts

After your tattoo is done, your artist will go over THEIR specific aftercare instructions. This will include but is not limited to, specific soaps we recommend to clean your tattoo, aftercare ointments that are available for purchase and moisturizing lotions we prefer. With proper use of the recommended items, you will achieve a quick healing time and a beautiful, vibrant tattoo that will stand the test of time. During the healing process, which can take as long as 30 days, we ask that you DO NOT pick, scratch, or soak your tattoo. We ask that you refrain from pools, spas, hot tubs or swimming in general until you are healed. We ask that sunblock is used as sunlight is one of the biggest enemies of a tattoo and will fade it quickly.  Post tattoo work-out is ok as long as the tattoo is kept clean and comfort level is not an issue. Gyms are bacteria havens and can result in an infection of a fresh tattoo. Your fresh tattoo should always be treated and cared for as if it was an open wound. While we guarantee our work, we will have to charge for touch-ups resulting from neglect or disregard of our healing guidelines. Of course, we are always available through email or a call to the shop if you ever have questions or concerns during your healing process.
